Vitamin Toxicity Differential Diagnoses
- Author: Mark Rosenbloom, MD, MBA; Chief Editor: Asim Tarabar, MD more...
Differential diagnosis in vitamin toxicity can include the following:
An elevated international normalized ratio (INR) may result from excessive doses of warfarin anticoagulants. Vitamin K deficiency and liver failure can prolong the prothrombin time (PT) and raise the INR.
The skin pigmentation seen in carotenemia is also observed with the consumption of large amounts of colored fruits and vegetables.
Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy
Pediatrics, Gastrointestinal Bleeding
