Diagnostic Considerations

Other causes of contact dermatitis must be excluded. Elements of the history and/or patch testing to relevant allergens can identify allergic contact dermatitis. Scabies may resemble fiberglass dermatitis. When localized to the hands, psoriasis or dyshidrotic eczema can be clinically mistaken for irritant contact dermatitis.
