Laboratory Studies
Appropriate laboratory studies, including a complete blood count, a platelet count, and coagulability studies, should be performed prior to surgery as needed.

Imaging Studies
Radiologic studies, such as CT scanning and MRI, can be obtained as needed.
Photographs of the lesions are obtained for documentation of the preoperative and postoperative appearance and the locations of the lesions. The Medscape Reference article Digital Photography may be helpful in this regard.
