Diagnostic Considerations

Other problems than Churg-Strauss disease (CSD), now known as eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), to be considered include the following:

  • Microscopic polyangiitis (microscopic polyarteritis)

  • Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome

  • Essential cryoglobulinemic vasculitis

  • Strongyloidosis with hyperinfection syndrome

  • Loeffler syndrome (simple pulmonary eosinophilia)

  • Chronic eosinophilic pneumonia

  • Acute eosinophilic pneumonia

  • Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis

  • Bronchocentric granulomatosis

  • Tropical pulmonary eosinophilia (wuchereriasis, brugiosis)
