Diagnostic Considerations

Differential diagnoses include the following:

  • Other genetic macular disease: Stargardt disease, Best disease, pattern dystrophy, North Carolina macular dystrophy, among others

  • Central serous chorioretinopathy

  • Myopic degeneration

  • Light or laser damage

  • Toxic retinopathies: Hydroxychloroquine, tamoxifen, among others
