Diagnostic Considerations

In addition to its known and reported association with pancreatitis, pregnancy and trauma, Purtscher-like retinopathy has now been reported to be associated with many systemic conditions including hemolytic uremic syndrome, [16] myocardial infarction, [17] viral infections, [18, 19] and stem cell transplantation. [20] Other recently reported causes include gemcitabine therapy, [23] synthetic cannabinoids, [22] and injection of drugs and other compounds. [23, 24]
