Diagnostic Considerations

Cardiac myxomas are rare benign neoplasms with symptoms that may mimic those of other disorders. Most occur sporadically; a relatively small proportion are part of Carney complex syndrome. [4]

Differentials in Carney complex include the following:

  • Intracardiac thrombus

  • Metastatic neoplasm to the heart

  • Breast adenoma/carcinoma

  • Testicular adenoma/carcinoma
