Diagnostic Considerations

Other conditions to consider in the differential diagnosis of mesenteric lymphadenitis include the following:

  • Meckel diverticulitis

  • Secondary mesenteric adenitis of infectious origin
  • Intestinal duplication

  • Tuberculosis

  • Intussusception

  • Malignancy
  • Intestinal lymphoma

  • Other causes of acute abdomen (eg, porphyria, sickle cell vaso-occlusive crises, cecal tumor, familial Mediterranean fever)
