Diagnostic Considerations

Other problems to be considered in the differential diagnosis include the following:

  • Diabetic ketoacidosis (with abdominal pain)
  • Poliomyelitis
  • Polyneuropathies
  • Tabes dorsalis (with abdominal pain)
  • Uremia (with abdominal pain)
  • Vasculitides (polyarteritis nodosa, lead or arsenic poisoning, myopathies, hysteria)
  • Other porphyrias

Differential Diagnoses
