Diagnostic Considerations

Problems to be considered include the following:

  • Temporomandibular joint syndrome

  • Asthma

  • Other chronic rhinitis

  • Nasal and sinus cavity tumors

  • Facial pain and headache attributable to other causes

  • Nasal polyp

  • Dental infection

  • Periodontal abscess

  • Antral-choanal polyp

  • Inverting papilloma

  • Aspirin/nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug sensitivity

  • Chronic headache of other etiology
