Conditions to consider in the differential diagnosis of St. Louis encephalitis include the following:

  • Other arbovirus encephalitis

  • Bacterial (including listerial), tuberculous, or fungal meningitis

  • Carcinomatous meningitis

  • CNS vasculitis

  • Cerebrovascular disease
