Diagnostic Considerations

Other problems to be considered in the differential diagnosis include the following:

  • Type 1 membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis other than that due to infectious causes
  • Mixed cryoglobulinemia
  • Atheroembolic disease and hemolytic uremic syndrome: These are examples of non–immune complex–mediated diseases that may mimic glomerulonephritis
