In the pediatric population, macroglossia may result in speech impediments and feeding difficulty with resultant failure to thrive. Complications seen not only in pediatric patients but in adults as well include orthodontic abnormalities, dysphagia, recurrent upper respiratory infections, airway obstruction, mandibular deformities, and drooling.
